WWCDA Global Enforcement Compliance Series

As part of WWCDA's educational programming and networking activities, WWCDA hosts an annual Global Enforcement & Compliance Series. Launched in 2022, the Series is comprised of four parts held throughout the year, and is open and free to all WWCDA members, alumnae, clients, and friends. Guest speakers include top-ranking officials, in-house counsel and compliance officers and practitioners in the enforcement and/or compliance space. Each session in the series focuses on a subset of current issues, trends, and relevant best practices.

2024 Series

Part 2 will take place on June 19 in conjunction with the London Summer Reception. Register today! 

Part 1 took place on March 6 at the 2024 WWCDA Annual Attorney Meeting at the Four Seasons Hotel, San Francisco, CA. The panel including Nicole Argentieri, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division, US DOJ, and Damali Taylor, O’Melveny & Myers LLP Partner and former AUSA for the Northern District of California had an insightful discussion. Introductions by Hartley M.K. West, Global Co-Chair of Enforcement & Investigations, Dechert LLP.

2023 Series

Part 4 was held on December 6 in Washington, D.C. and virtually. An expert panel of top officials from key U.S. regulatory and enforcement agencies including, Molly Moser, Acting Chief Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section (MLARS) Criminal Division U.S. Department of Justice; Doha Mekki, Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice; Henry Liu, Director of Bureau of Competition, Federal Trade Commission; Ian McGinley, Director of Enforcement, Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Gurbir Grewal, Director of Division of Enforcement, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission  had a timely conversation on the enforcement priorities and challenges the U.S. is currently facing and will continue to address in 2024. 

Part 3 was held October 11 in Washington, D.C.. The esteemed panel including Denise Barnes, Partner, Honigman LLP; Jennifer Short, Partner, Blank Rome LLP; Jamie Ann Yavelberg, Director of the Fraud Section in the Commercial Litigation Branch of the DOJ Civil Division and moderated by Ellen London, Shareholder London & Stout. They covered the latest developments and trends in False Claims Act litigation as well as the recent Supreme Court cases United States ex rel. Schutte v. SuperValu Inc. and United States ex rel. Polansky v. Executive Health Resources, Inc., and related legal issues that could arise in the wake of these cases as well as the DOJ’s current civil priorities. See the highlights!

Part 2 was held June 21 in London in conjunction with the London Summer Reception at the magnificent, historic Lincoln's Inn. The panel of speakers included: Freya Page, Head of Guidance, Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI); Jessica Medhurst, HM Treasury, Sanctions and Illicit Finance Unit; Abigail Culank, Deputy Director, Sanctions Directorate Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; Linda Minsker, Director, Office of Enforcement Analysis, Bureau of Industry and Security U.S. Department of Commerce and Lauren Sun, Assistant Director for Regulatory Affairs, U.S. Department of Treasury, OFAC. 


Part 1 of the 2023 series kicked-off on March 1 at the sold-out WWCDA Annual Meeting held in Miami Beach. The session consisted of a panel discussion with our distinguished panel of three talented in-house and government speakers: Katy Choo, Group Vice President and Chief Counsel, Global Investigations, GE; Katie Daniels, Managing Director, Head of Compliance, Global Leadership Team Legal Canada Pension Plan Investment Board; Beatriz Lopes de Oliveira, State Prosecutor - District Attorney, Public Ministry of the State of São Paulo. The panel was moderated by WWCDA Program Committee Co-Chairs, Amanda Raad and Yannine Robledo. The session, which was held at the Annual Meeting Breakfast, was an engaging, interactive discussion.

2022 Series

Part 1 was hosted on April 11, 2022 in person in Washington, D.C. and was live-streamed for those attending virtually. This session, titled, Views from the Top, featured seven top officials from the U.S. capital’s largest regulatory and enforcement agencies. Views from the Top shed light on the enforcement priorities and challenges the U.S. is facing in 2022.   A roof-top lunch/reception overlooking Washington, D.C. followed the panel discussion. Part 2 was held June 22, 2022, simultaneously in two cities - London and Washington, D.C., - and live-streamed for virtual participation. This session, titled, Effective Compliance Programs and Value in Global Resolutions, will consist of a discussion amongst a panel of top government and in-house practitioners.  Receptions will follow the panel discussion in London and Washington, D.C. (with food and beverages served to those attending in person). 

Part 3 was held October 11, 2022 both in person in New York and virtually. This session titled, Corporate Monitorships: Evolving Trends and Best Practices included a talented panel of women government, in-house, defense, and forensic accounting professionals with extensive monitorship experience.

Part 4 was held December 13, 2022 both in person in Washington, D.C. and virtually. This session titled, The Penalty Phase: Developments in Sentencing, Forfeiture, and Clawbacks on the Global Stage included a panel discussion to explore penalty considerations, particularly in multi-jurisdictional matters, forfeiture and clawback perspectives.
