Kathie has over two decades of federal litigation experience. She has handled federal asset forfeiture (civil and criminal), ERISA, civil rights, and employment discrimination litigations. Kathie spent nearly thirteen years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York. During her tenure there, Kathie served as Deputy Chief and Chief of the Asset Forfeiture Unit, overseeing the recovery of hundreds of millions of dollars in criminally tainted property, as well as the recovery of stolen and looted art and cultural property. Kathie also served as Principal Deputy Chief of the Office's Civil Division. Since leaving the government for private practice, Kathie has represented a financial institution in a civil forfeiture proceeding to recover monies seized by the government from the client's correspondent account. She also successfully represented a non-profit institution in litigation to set aside an administrative forfeiture, and she has helped a number of clients conduct internal investigations into possible wrongdoing.
Kathie is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and is a member of the ACAMS Pittsburgh Chapter Board. She is also a member of the Pittsburgh Glass Center's board.
