María Gutiérrez studied law at the Universidad de Sevilla and after postgraduate studies at Ludwig Maximillian Universität in Munich she got her PhD. in Law from the Universidad de Sevilla, with honors.
She is currently professor of Criminal Law at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and also collaborates as a lecturer in Master Programmes at different Universities and Business Centers. She frequently publishes on relevant matters of Criminal Law and International Criminal Law, and has carried out several research stays at the Universities of Berlin, Munich and Bonn.
Throughout her extensive professional career she has advised national and international clients covering all areas of Criminal Law and, in particular, Economic and Environmental Criminal Law. She has also intervened in the design and implementation of Crime Prevention Models and Compliance programs in companies in various sectors of activity.
