Payel Chatterjee works as Head-Litigation at Adani Enterprises Limited. She focusses on civil and criminal litigation, domestic and International Commercial Arbitration, as well as anti-trust, employment and consumer litigation. Prior to joining, she worked as a Leader in Nishith Desai Associates for ten years. Payel advised and represented international clients especially private equity investors, funds, multi-nationals in complex cross-border litigation and international commercial arbitrations and litigation arising out of international and domestic arbitration in Indian courts and regularly represents multi-nationals in internal investigations. She has worked on several matters involving enforcement of foreign awards and judgments in India as well as some of the most challenging projects in financial services and regulatory sector, successfully representing investors in the biggest infrastructure investment by a consortium of private equity investors in power projects before SIAC. She was appointed as member of the ICC Task Force set up on dealing with issues on Corruption in International Arbitration. She contributed to the ICCA-IBA Joint Task Force on Data Protection in International Arbitration (2019-20) and is also on the panel of arbitrators of the Caspian Arbitration Group. She regularly publishes and authors article in national and international journals and magazines. Outside of work, I enjoy baking and learning new languages.
