Bio

I spent the first ten years of my career litigating complex criminal cases in state and federal court, first as a trial attorney with the Denver office of the Colorado State Public Defender and later as a partner with two well-known law firms in Denver. During that time, I tried more than 50 cases to verdict. I specialized in the defense of cases involving allegations of sexual assault, serious juvenile adjudications, Title IX investigations, high school discipline and expulsions, and criminal cases involving claims of self-defense. I also have experience drafting state court appeals and federal civil rights complaints under 42 USC 1983, as well as managing the review and organization of complex discovery in civil and criminal cases using Relativity and CaseMap.

During my time in private practice, I developed a sophisticated and innovative motions practice focused on leaving no stone unturned. I won motions related to exclusion of key evidence, violation of grand jury proceedings, recusal of judges, and suppression of evidence obtained by an illegal search warrant. I pride myself on being a tenacious and creative attorney who thinks outside the box to achieve excellent results. I have worked alongside some of the best defense attorneys in the practice, and I bring that collective high-level experience with me into every new case I accept. I joined 2nd-Chair in 2020 as a way to do what I enjoy the most: working behind the scenes to help trial lawyers present a thorough, aggressive, results-driven defense.
