Bio

Margaret's legal practice is informed by more than 15 years of diverse investigative, trial and appellate experience.  Margaret co-founded Alcalaw to provide trauma-informed legal guidance and investigative services to clients facing crises related to sexual misconduct and other sensitive matters.

Margaret most recently served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York where she was appointed Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime and Gang section.  During her years as an AUSA, Margaret tried a wide range of cases and gained extensive experience investigating racketeering enterprises engaged in crimes including sex trafficking, bank fraud, identity theft, drug trafficking and serious acts of violence.  For her work, Margaret was twice awarded the Prosecutor of the Year Award from the Federal Law Enforcement Association and was also honored by the Federal Drug Agents Foundation with the True American Hero Award.

Margaret began her career at the New York County District Attorney’s Office where she tried a dozen felony trials and conducted extensive and often complex investigations, including those related to money laundering, corruption, international drug trafficking and terrorism.  She initially served in the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor where she was honored with an annually awarded commendation for Extraordinary Service.  She later served in the Rackets Bureau where she investigated white collar crimes and handled the first case in New York County charging a violation of the state terrorism statute.

Margaret received a JD with Honors from The George Washington University and a BA from Duke University.
