Professional Profile
Sonya represents defendants in complex white collar investigations and prosecutions in federal court, individuals in corporate and government investigations, as well as criminal clients in high-profile, serious felony cases in state court. Sonya also represents indigent clients in a variety of federally appointed cases, and a number of pro bono clients in civil and criminal-related matters, including several declarants in the U.S. Department of Justice’s HB2 federal suit against the state of North Carolina and death row inmates in North Carolina’s Racial Justice Act litigation. She also represent plaintiffs in civil rights cases involving wrongful convictions.
