I’m an anti-corruption/compliance and international arbitration expert with broad experience advising and representing multinational corporations and governments across Asia, the U.S., and Europe. Currently based in Hong Kong, I lead Shearman & Sterling’s Asia Investigations & Compliance team on the ground in Asia. I was previously based in each of the firm’s New York and Frankfurt offices for several years, and have also lived and worked for extended periods in China, Singapore, India, and Italy. As such, I bring deep intercultural sensitivity to my legal work, in addition to language fluency in German, Italian, French, and Mandarin Chinese.
I also act as arbitrator and advise on trade law issues with a particular focus on regional trade agreements in East Asia, the subject matter of my Ph.D. thesis in law, which was awarded my German alma mater's Law Faculty Award in 2012. Updated version published under the title of "Regional Economic Integration and Dispute Settlement in East Asia" (Bloomsbury/Hart Publishing, 592 p., Oxford, 2018).
