Bio

Former federal prosecutor Georgia Alexakis has extensive experience leading complex investigations, managing government inquiries, and arguing cases at both the trial and appellate levels. Businesses and key executives facing crises — from sensitive internal matters to high-profile enforcement actions — look to Georgia for sound strategy based on her deep insights into the inner workings of government, her extensive legal knowledge, and her unwavering commitment to tackling even the most challenging matters.

While serving for nearly nine years as an Assistant United States Attorney, Georgia developed an enviable track record of success before both judges and juries. As Deputy Chief of Criminal Appeals in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, Georgia successfully briefed and argued dozens of cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and was recognized nationally by the Department of Justice for her outstanding performance as an appellate advocate. Georgia also developed extensive experience as a trial lawyer, securing convictions against public officials, lobbyists, and a police officer who, as a jury found, used excessive force in firing his weapon and striking two Chicago teenagers.

Through both her trial and appellate work, Georgia has accumulated extensive knowledge in areas involving securities and commodities fraud; bank, mortgage, and identity fraud; cybercrime; public corruption; tax; national security; money laundering; and civil rights. And as a supervisor within the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Georgia provided strategic counsel on a diverse range of difficult legal issues stemming from investigations, trials, sentencings, and post-conviction proceedings. Her guidance positioned fellow prosecutors for strong outcomes in the district court as well as on appeal.

While an Assistant United States Attorney, Georgia also was tapped to develop and implement responses to several congressional subpoenas seeking sensitive information from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Her work culminated in witness testimony from the Department of Justice before the House Judiciary and Oversight and Reform Committees. Clients facing high-stakes inquiries value Georgia’s thorough and thoughtful approach to managing the disclosure of financial and other proprietary data in order to address government requests while protecting business interests.

Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Georgia was a partner at a nationally recognized litigation firm. There, she served as trial counsel — in jury and bench trials as well as arbitrations — in matters involving breach of contract, accounting malpractice, product liability, and mass tort disputes for clients in multiple industries, including financial services, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.

She also has experience as a business strategy consultant based on her years with the Boston Consulting Group. Clients appreciate the depth and breadth of Georgia’s understanding of business and legal issues.

Outside of work, Georgia spends her time raising her three children and helping to lead her daughter's Girl Scout troop.
