Bio

Karima Tawfik focuses her practice on high-stakes commercial litigation in the healthcare and life sciences industries, as well as internal and government investigations, compliance, and white-collar defense. Karima regularly represents clients in federal and state matters in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and New York, as well as before the DOJ, SEC, FinCEN, and other governmental agencies.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Karima worked for an international litigation boutique firm on a wide array of commercial and governmental matters. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Hilda G. Tagle of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, where she assisted in civil and criminal trials in Houston and along the United States-Mexico border. Karima received the William W. Bishop Jr. Award for international law and a Certificate of Merit in international trade law from the University of Michigan Law School.

In her personal time, Karima enjoys swimming, biking, checking out the D.C. performing arts scene, and spending time with her family and friends.
