I am a tax controversy partner in the DC office of SouthBank Legal, a boutique law firm headquartered in South Bend, Indiana. Our DC office handles tax controversy, white collar criminal defense, and global investigations/compliance.
Prior to joining SouthBank, I spent over 22 years in the DOJ Tax Division, Appellate Section, serving as the Chief of the Appellate Section from 2019-2025. In that role, I directed all of the government's civil tax litigation in the federal courts of appeals and worked with the Solicitor General's office on tax cases in the Supreme Court. I've argued over 60 cases in every federal circuit court and the D.C. Court of Appeals. I've handled the full spectrum of tax issues that arise for multinational companies, small businesses, partnerships, nonprofits, and individuals, as well as collateral civil tax issues for individuals convicted of tax crimes and FBAR litigation.
My husband is a career prosecutor in USAO-DC, currently in the Fraud and Public Corruption Section. We have four wonderful children in high school and college, and we have a greyhound that is retired from his racing career.
