Dr. Marta Villarraga is a Principal in the Biomedical Engineering & Sciences practice at Exponent and is based in Philadelphia. Marta has over 26 years of experience in evaluation of medical device performance during the premarketing and postmarketing stages. She has experience with orthopedic, spinal, plastic and reconstructive surgery, urology, urogynecology, general surgery, women's health, and diagnostic medical devices.
Dr. Villarraga has provided technical support for due diligence, regulatory submissions, regulatory compliance, risk management, postmarketing surveillance, product development, product liability, contract disputes, internal investigations, trade secret, and intellectual property matters.
She is a member of various scientific and professional societies and continues to serve on the Board of Advisors of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University. She is also part of Board of Directors of the Food Drug and Law Institute (FDLI).
Marta graduated from Tulane University, where she did her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biomedical Engineering. During graduate school she was supported by a National Science Foundation Minority Graduate Fellowship and by an American Association of University Women (AAUW) Selected Professions Fellowship. She is also a Regulatory Affairs Certified (RAC-US, Devices) professional.
