I have been in criminal defense for over 25 years with a background as the Senior Litigator for the Federal Public Defender's Office in the District of Oregon. I was fortunate to take early retirement and open my own federal criminal defense practice.
I've litigated and negotiated hundreds of cases for clients in District Court. My special professional interests include negotiation strategy, mental heath defenses and jury selection. When I was in post-conviction practice I also handled two habeas cases in the National Registry of Exonerations for clients wrongfully convicted on homicide charges.
In terms of business-facing and white collar type work, I have had success with cases involving tax evasion, fraud, counterfeit goods, cyber crimes, forgery, bribery, restitution and forfeiture. I am a nationally recognized trainer and coach for federal criminal defense bar and frequently present for attorney education events.
I live in Portland with my wife and twins. You can also hear me weekly as a radio DJ playing rocknroll on 107.1 fm XRAY.FM. I'm originally from Fort Worth, Texas, hence the nickname.
