WWCDA was honored to partner with GIR on the successful Women in Investigation conference in London on June 28, 2018. Women from around the world attended, including WWCDA members who gave keynote and panel presentations, including Leslie Caldwell (San Francisco), Jodi Avergun (DC), Muriel Goldberg-Darmon (France), Lucinda Low (DC) and Karen Popp (Global Chair). In connection with the conference, GIR published its 100 Women in Investigations survey, profiling top female global investigations attorneys, accountants and analysts. Many of our WWCDA members were among this group and have posted links to the GIR profile on their individual social media accounts. Congratulations to them all.
Congratulations also to our leader, Karen Popp, the Global Chair of WWCDA and Partner at Sidley Austin for receiving the first-ever GIR Award for Services to Diversity. Karen was honored for her "great commitment to improving women's positions in the workplace," both within Sidley and in the wider white collar defense and investigations world. In presenting the award, GIR especially praised Karen for her work in co-founding the WWCDA in 1999 and leading the group from the initial membership of 10 women to 1400 members in 30 chapters around the world. GIR credited Karen's vision and "impressive leadership and interpersonal skills" for the "extraordinary growth" of the WWCDA.
