Avery F. Pollard is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Zuckerman Spaeder.

Before joining the firm, Avery was an associate at a large law firm in D.C., and was a law clerk to The Honorable Amit P. Mehta, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, for the 2016-2017 term.

While in law school, Avery was a judicial intern for The Honorable Paul L. Friedman, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and was a legal intern at the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division, Appellate Section. Prior to law school, Avery worked as a freelance writer and as a journalist for two national news organizations.

Representative Matters

  • Represents victims of child sexual abuse in an action against the Boy Scouts of America.
  • Represented the former CFO of a public company charged with accounting fraud by the SEC. The client hired Zuckerman Spaeder after the SEC had brought charges. After 18 months of litigation, the SEC dismissed all charges against the client.
  • Helped obtain a significant civil rights settlement from the Baltimore County Police Department on behalf of a pro bono client who was attacked by a police dog and denied adequate medical treatment.
  • Represented 88 alumni of the University of North Carolina in an amicus brief urging a North Carolina judge to set aside a settlement between the UNC and the Sons of Confederate Veterans regarding ownership of a Confederate statue. The judge vacated the settlement and dismissed the case.
  • Represents clients in DOJ, SEC, and CFTC investigations and enforcement actions.
