Peggy Bennett is a partner at Nossaman, LLP. Her practice focuses on criminal defense, administrative enforcement matters, campus disciplinary actions, Title IX matters, SORNA registration and family law. Ms. Bennett represents clients in both local and federal courts and has experience representing witnesses in regulatory investigations conducted by a number of government agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Securities and Exchange commission.
Ms. Bennett began her career as a Public Defender with the Legal Aid Society in New York City. At Legal Aid, she vigorously represented indigent clients in all aspects of their defense in a wide range of misdemeanor and felony cases. Ms. Bennett further honed her courtroom advocacy and investigative skills by serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. In that capacity, Ms. Bennett prosecuted a wide array of misdemeanor and felony cases while serving in the Grand Jury, Domestic Violence, Sex Offense, and Community Prosecution units of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Ms. Bennett continued her practice in several boutique firms in the District of Columbia where she focused on white collar criminal cases, administrative enforcement matters, campus disciplinary actions, Title IX matters, SORNA registration and family law.
In addition to her legal experience , Ms. Bennett worked for two years as a Global Director of Strategic Account for Knoll, Inc. This experience gave her unique insight into corporate governance and day-to-day business operations.
Ms. Bennett received her J.D from New York University School of Law. She holds a B.A degree in Urban Studies from the New School University in New York City. She is a member of the District of Columbia and New York State Bars and is admitted to practice in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and in the District of Maryland.
