Amanda B. Robinson focuses her practice on white collar issues, including congressional inquiries and governmental and internal corporate investigations. She represents large and midsized companies before Congress, the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other federal agencies. Amanda represents clients in a wide range of industries, including healthcare, life sciences, financial services, and technology. Her work is concentrated on defending clients in Qui Tam lawsuits, including declined Qui Tam litigation, and investigations arising under the False Claims Act (FCA), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), as well as the federal antitrust laws.
Amanda also counsels members of US Congress, executive branch officials, and executive branch nominees regarding compliance with ethics laws and rules, including financial statements and other disclosure obligations.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Amanda was an associate counsel and presidential management fellow with the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In that capacity, she worked with the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation on delivery and payment reform and issued advisory opinions on fraud and abuse issues associated with Medicare and Medicaid, including the federal Stark and antikickback laws, OIG exclusion authorities, and civil money penalties.
Earlier in her career, Amanda worked at the White House, where she provided direct support to US President George W. Bush. In addition to traveling with the president, she coordinated the flow of official documents, helped draft executive orders and briefing papers, and managed the speechwriting process.
Amanda received her J.D. from the College of William & Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law, where she served as the symposium editor of the William and Mary Bill of Rights Journal. She also served as a law clerk for the US House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means and the US Senate Committee on the Judiciary, and as a judicial extern for Judge Richard Leon on the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
