Bio

Jessica Rapoport is a Senior Associate in King & Spalding’s Special Matters and Investigations practice, resident in the Washington, D.C. office.  Ms. Rapoport’s practice focuses on representing individuals and entities in the areas of securities enforcement, white collar criminal defense, the False Claims Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and is a part of the #MeToo working group. She has worked on matters involving public company investigations in front of the Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Commodities Futures Trading Commission, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and both federal and state courts.

Ms. Rapoport’s practice focuses on representing individuals and entities in the areas of securities enforcement, white collar criminal defense, the False Claims Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Ms. Rapoport also devotes a significant portion of her time to pro bono work and philanthropy, with a particular focus on criminal defense. She has experience with appellate litigation at the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. She has successfully submitted clemency petitions for sentencing relief on behalf of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law’s Clemency Project. She has additionally worked on clemency efforts on behalf of an inmate housed in Bedford Hills, New York and worked on a civil rights litigation matter on behalf of a transgender student. Ms. Rapoport is a founding member of “Raise”, a DC based fundraising group that hosts events to raise awareness, conversation and support for philanthropic causes and surrounding issues.  Ms. Rapoport is also a leader of UndocuNeighbor, which is a coalition consisting of law firms, private industry and subject matter experts that represents and/or financially assists individuals facing deportation or needing assistance with DACA renewals.  Ms. Rapoport is on the Washington DC Hiring Committee and the Firm Wide Associates Committee.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Ms. Rapoport was an associate in the white collar criminal defense and securities enforcement group of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP.  Before practicing law, she worked for the United States House of Representative Committee on the Judiciary’s Special Impeachment Task Force.

Ms. Rapoport graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a member of the Journal of Law & Politics and President of the Public Interest Law Association. She graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Social Policy.
