Rachel A. Katz is and has been a member in good standing of the Illinois Bar since 2008, and joined Kulwin, Masciopinto & Kulwin LLP in 2013.
In 2008, Ms. Katz graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she graduated with Honors, received a Chicago-Kent Merit Scholarship which provides students with full academic tuition, received CALI Awards for the highest grade in her Criminal Procedure, Trial Advocacy, and Legal Writing III courses, and was named to the Dean’s List during every semester of attendance. Ms. Katz earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, where she graduated with Distinction, was selected to and did teach courses on social justice issues, received the Ginsberg Award for Community Service and Social Action, achieved the University Honors designation and was recognized as a James B. Angell Scholar, a recognition given to undergraduate students who achieve an all “A” record for two or more consecutive terms.
During law school, Ms. Katz worked as a Judicial Extern clerk for the Honorable Allen S. Goldberg in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Law Division. She also worked as a Legal Extern clerk for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois and for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Felony Trial Division. Ms. Katz also worked as a law clerk at Levin Riback Law Group, P.C., a well-known and respected personal injury law firm in Chicago.
Ms. Katz has handled, litigated and/or participated in the litigation of complex criminal and civil cases in federal and state courts. Between 2008 and 2013, Ms. Katz worked as an associate lawyer for the Law Offices of Jeffrey B. Steinbeck, representing clients in high-profile federal criminal cases brought in Federal Courts across the country.
In 2011, Ms. Katz began serving as a Justice Council Board member for the Northwestern University Law Center on Wrongful Convictions.
In 2009, Ms. Katz founded the associate board for Parkinson’s Research Society and was appointed to serve as its President. In 2012, when the associate board merged with the main board, Ms. Katz was appointed to serve as Vice President of the Board.
Ms. Katz is admitted to practice, and has practiced, in the United States District Courts for the following districts: the Northern District of Illinois, the Central District of Illinois, the Southern District of Illinois, the Northern District of Indiana, and the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Ms. Katz is also admitted to practice, and has practiced, before the United States Appellate Court for the Seventh Circuit, the Illinois Supreme Court and Illinois Appellate Courts, including the First District.
