Bio

Shirley Diaz is an associate in the Washington, DC office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where she handles government enforcement and white-collar crimes and maintains a pro bono practice. She is an active member of the firm's Latinx Affinity Network and serves as Vice-President of Membership for the Hispanic Bar Association of DC.

Shirley has a law degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI Law), where she graduated with pro bono honors. At UCI Law, she was co-chair of the Women's Law Society, board member of the Latinx Law Student Association, and a member of the Dean's diversity committee. Before law school, she was an analyst at Goldman Sachs working on collateral management for over-the-counter derivatives. Shirley earned a Master’s degree in economics and a Bachelor’s in political science from the University of Nevada, Reno (Nevada). At Nevada, she served two terms as student body senator for the College of Liberal Arts, was president of Lambda Phi Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc., and received the Dean's Exemplar Award for the Class of 2012.

Shirley was named a Fun, Fearless Latina by Cosmopolitan for Latinas magazine. She is originally from Huntington Beach, California.
