Bio

Shana has extensive experience with trial advocacy and investigations in North Carolina and Washington, DC. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Deputy Chief at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, she prosecuted white-collar, violent crime (including homicides), narcotics, weapons, and sex crime cases, including many cases that received national media attention. She tried dozens of cases and investigated and indicted many more. She has also successfully briefed and argued appellate matters. Prior to her service as an AUSA, Shana defended prominent public officials in government ethics investigations and worked on high-profile matters involving accounting and securities fraud, medical malpractice, the False Claims Act and other civil and criminal matters in state and federal courts. At Brooks Pierce in North Carolina, she now focuses her practice on white-collar defense, internal and government investigations, and complex civil litigation.  Many of her matters are high-profile and high-stakes and include an intersection of criminal, civil and regulatory issues.  She enjoys the unique challenges posed by these types of complex matters.
