Bio

INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND COMMERCE

I am an attorney at Schulz Trade Law PLLC, a woman-owned international trade law firm in Dallas, Texas. All of our attorneys are currently women!

My primary role is helping clients navigate international trade regulations. I help them develop and implement U.S. and global export control, import control, and sanctions compliance programs and represent them in government enforcement or self-disclosure matters. My clients range from large, publicly-traded corporations to small family businesses and non-profit organizations.

For four years, I was a member of the leadership team for the largest corporate export control monitorship in U.S. history. During the monitorship, I audited and supervised a foreign, multinational technology company convicted of export control law violations. I worked closely with the company’s export compliance officials to identify risks and enhance the company’s compliance program at its corporate headquarters and several hundred subsidiaries worldwide. I led site visits, investigations, and audit test work in 30 countries. I also worked with my team to author numerous reports to the federal court overseeing the matter and liaised with government agency officials.

I started my career as a commercial litigation attorney and have represented clients in a wide variety of state and federal litigation matters. I apply this advocacy experience for my trade clients in government relations, including import and export-related disclosures and government agency ruling requests.

When I was in law school, I interned with Senior District Judge David A. Ezra in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. I also clerked with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas, where I supported federal regulatory investigations and prosecutions. I was also a research assistant to Robert M. Chesney, the Director for the Robert Strauss Center for International Security and Law at the University of Texas School of Law.

I am licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, federal courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, and the Court of International Trade.

PERSONAL

I am an avid reader and love fantasy, sci-fi, and thriller novels. My reading goal is generally 50+ books per year. If you're a fellow reader and have the goodreads app, you should add me so we can exchange book recommendations!

I also enjoy yoga, gardening, painting, and sewing. I have a rescue hound named Goose, and we enjoy taking breaks during the day to chase tennis balls around (yes, I end up doing a lot of the chasing - Goose isn't particularly good at the "fetch" part).
