Bio

Prof. Petra van Kampen (1969) was sworn in as a lawyer in Rotterdam in 2001, after teaching criminal law at Leiden University as a university lecturer and obtaining her PhD there in 1998 based on expert evidence in criminal cases in the Netherlands and the United States of America. Part of the research on her PhD thesis was done at University of Michigan Law School (94/95). Since 2010, Petra is a (criminal) lawyer in Amsterdam. She specializes in fraud cases (including bribery cases), environmental cases, industrial accidents and corporate crime. In 2010, Petra was appointed professor in the practise of criminal law at the Willem Pompe Institute of Criminal Law at Utrecht University. 
Petra has a large number of publications in the field of criminal (procedural) law to her name.

Petra is a member of the Dutch Association of Criminal Law Attorneys (NVSA), the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA), as well as its "sub-association", the European Fraud and Compliance Lawyers (EFCL), and the Women's White Collare Defense Association.

She is currenty serving as member of the board of the Dutch Bar Association.
