Tennessee / Alabama

The Tennessee / Alabama Chapter of the Women's White Collar Defense Association (WWCDA) was founded in 2013 to provide local, regional, and national networking opportunities for female attorneys in the Birmingham and Nashville areas whose practices focus on representing companies and individuals in connection with the investigation and prosecution of criminal and regulatory violations at the federal and state levels.

Birmingham is the largest city in Alabama and has a white collar bar experienced in handling criminal and regulatory investigations in a variety of areas including civil rights, public corruption, healthcare, aerospace and defense contracting, and financial services, throughout Alabama and the broader southeast region. Nashville, the capital of Tennessee, is known as the health care capital of the country and is home to more than 250 health care companies. In addition to the array of general white collar matters that arise in Nashville and the surrounding areas, Nashville's white collar bar is also highly experienced in handling matters arising within the health care sector. Located three hours apart, Birmingham and Nashville have a number of similarities in their economies and their legal markets. Since there are relatively few women practicing in the white collar space in Birmingham and in Nashville, these women decided to form a single Chapter.

This Chapter seeks to foster relationships between those women in the Birmingham and Nashville areas who are actively working on white collar matters and to promote cross referrals within the Chapter and within the WWCDA as a whole. In addition, the Chapter hosts three networking events annually, two for members within their respective cities, and one for the group as a whole.
