Bio

Michelle Gettinger is a Director in BDO’s Forensics Litigation practice in Atlanta, Georgia. Michelle has more than ten years of experience assisting a wide-range of clients in the consulting and litigation space. Prior to joining BDO, Michelle worked for Grant Thornton in their Forensic Advisory practice, Alvarez & Marsal in their Global Forensic and Dispute Services practice, and Deloitte in their Forensic and Dispute Services group.

Michelle has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including banking, financial services, manufacturing, retail, consumer and industrial products, real estate, insurance, transportation, healthcare, education, technology, and telecommunications. 

Michelle has assisted clients with internal investigations involving money laundering, fraud, misappropriation of assets, accounting irregularities, and other employee misconduct. She has provided clients with litigation and alternative dispute resolution support services for employee misconduct cases, post-acquisition and purchase price disputes, insurance claims, breach of contract issues, and intellectual property disputes. In addition, she has assisted clients with risk mitigation efforts including compliance risk assessments, policy and procedure reviews, internal controls testing, third party due diligence, and compliance program design and implementation.  

Michelle is a frequent presenter and publisher of thought leadership on forensic matters. She has authored articles in a wide variety of publications, including bar association newsletters and AICPA digests. She has also presented on forensic issues for several organizations, including law firms, the ACFE and Georgia Society of CPAs.

Michelle earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Michelle is a Certified Public Accountant and a licensed attorney in Georgia, serves on the Board of Directors of the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
