Bio

Ilene represents individuals, universities, and businesses in white collar criminal defense matters, internal investigations, and commercial litigation.  A former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Ilene has investigated hundreds of cases, taken dozens to a jury verdict, and has argued 30 appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  Ilene's expertise includes financial disputes, securities fraud, insider trading, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, money laundering, and health care fraud.

Ilene has also litigated health care-related matters throughout the U.S. court system for a leading not-for-profit advocacy organization, representing physicians and medical practices challenging restrictive state laws.  Her broad legal practice has included such clients as major universities, global financial services corporations, bank executives, and athletes in U.S. Center for SafeSport investigations.

Ilene is a voting council member of the Criminal Justice Section (CJS) of the American Bar Association (ABA) and co-chair of the ABA CJS Women in White Collar subcommittee. She has served as a panelist on cross-border prosecutions at the ABA’s White Collar Crime Institute and a moderator on internal investigations at the ABA Annual Meeting.  Ilene has monitored hearings in the Khalid Sheikh Mohammed military commission at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba on behalf of the ABA CJS.  Ilene also serves as social media coordinator for the New York Chapter of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association (WWCDA) and sits on the Board of Directors of JALBCA, the Judges & Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert.
