Bio

Lisa Osofsky was the Director of the Serious Fraud Office (DSFO) from 2018-2023. In that role, she was charged with detecting, investigating, and prosecuting complex fraud, corruption, bribery, and money launder offences in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. She managed 600 employees and a budget of approximately £70M. As DSFO, she delivered the largest corporate conviction in UK history and the first Section 1 conviction under the UKBA (Glencore); she also secured the largest corporate confiscation order following this conviction. Ms. Osofsky drove the SFO to rank 1/80 of all UK agencies pursuing asset recovery. She delivered the largest DPA in the UK (Airbus, a €3.6B global resolution with $1M to the UK). She led the effort to expand the Failure to Provent Offence and §2A powers (to include fraud).

Before joining the SFO, Ms. Osofsky served as the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Regional Chair of Exiger, a firm she helped build. In this role, she focused on the Anti-Money Laundering and sanctions monitorship of HSBC Bank and other European headquartered financial institutions. She conducted compliance, governance, and investigatory work involving global financial institutions and companies. Before she joined Exiger, Osofsky was the Money Laundering Reporting Officer and counsel at Goldman Sachs International (GSI) in London. Before GSI, Ms. Osofsky was the Deputy General Counsel and Ethics Officer of the FBI. 

Ms. Osofsky began her career in Chicago as a law clerk to federal judge James B. Moran; she then served as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA), focusing on corruption and white-collar crime. She was posted to the SFO in London as a special assistant to the Fraud Section of the Criminal Division of the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and later served in DOJ’s Office of International Affairs. Ms. Osofsky received her Bachelor of Arts degree, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, from Amherst College, and her Juris Doctor from the Harvard Law School.

Ms. Osofsky was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1997 and is a bencher at Middle Temple. She received the 2019 ACFE Cressey award recognizing her lifetime commitment to the fight against fraud. In 2022. Women in White Collar Defense honored Ms. Osofsky with a Champion Award.
