I am a former Federal Public Defender and experienced trial attorney whose practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense and government investigations. I have tried and defended complex cases involving bank, mail, and wire fraud; mortgage and consumer fraud; forfeiture and financial investigations; identity theft; money laundering; privacy and data-related offenses; and other sophisticated financial and regulatory crimes. My experience also includes sensitive national security matters, including cases governed by the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA).
I represent individuals, executives, and corporate clients in high-stakes regulatory and enforcement matters, including government investigations, indictments, internal investigations, deferred prosecution agreements, and False Claims Act allegations. My work frequently involves guiding clients through parallel criminal, civil, and regulatory exposure.
In my past life I defended death penalty cases, including the only 9/11 case to go to trial in Federal Court, and I currently work with the ACLU John Adams project on a team representing an individual detained at Guantanamo. For fun I love to cook, travel to music festivals, and garden.
