The Dallas Chapter of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association was launched in January 2013. The membership includes women lawyers and legal consultants in Dallas and Fort Worth whose primary practice area is white collar criminal and government enforcement defense.
Dallas is the ninth largest city in the US and, when combined with Fort-Worth and surrounding suburbs, is home to a population of more than 6.3 million people. DFW is home to 24 companies on the Fortune 500, approximately 200 public companies, and major financial service firms including broker-dealers and investment firms. Dallas and Fort Worth boast a broadly diverse business climate, with technological industries in the lead. Major industries include defense, financial services, information technology and data, life sciences, semiconductors, telecommunications, transportation, manufacturing, energy and processing. Real estate and tourism are other major industry sectors in the DFW area. Thus, the women in the WWCDA are diverse and our backgrounds varied. Our membership includes former high-ranking government officials from, among other agencies, the SEC, DOJ, and the US Attorneys’ offices with specialties such as antitrust, cybercrime, government contracting, healthcare, securities, and tax, among others.
The local DFW group plans to meet six to eight times a year hosting social networking events as well as informational programs and CLEs. We seek to provide regular opportunities for women attorneys and legal consultants in DFW to: 1) build, broaden, and deepen their network of professional contacts and referral sources among women and with our male colleagues; 2) train and mentor young women in the white collar defense practice; and 3) leverage contacts around the country and around the world to build business.
